Cloakroom with Fitted Furniture and Patterned Flooring

A cloakroom is a room which you go into more often than you might think, and is a place you don’t want to neglect or let sit on your mind when you hang your coat up.

This project was one required to update the space and make it feel bright and welcoming. The back wall had pipework on show and our customer wanted to conceal this to make the whole room feel fresh and streamline and also add those little extra touches of luxury – a sit on basin and LED mirror.

Design features:

Fitted furniture is a great solution for concealing pipework as it not only allows it to be easier to keep clean but also adds a lovely amount of storage. Being able to customise the furniture from the door styles, colours and tops you are able to create a look which is almost unique to you. The dark gloss is a beautiful, modern finish and by having doors which push to open enables a streamline, minimal aesthetic to be included. The wood effect top then introduces that warmth and natural colour and texture which links to rooms elsewhere in the home.

The space we were working with was relatively narrow in width compared to the length and therefore a wall hung vanity adds the illusion of more space as you can see the floor flow from one side to the other.

In smaller spaces, patterned flooring is a beautiful way to introduce pattern and shape. It is on a scale which is not overwhelming and due to the simplicity in the remainder of the space, allows it to not be over complicated. The different tones and shades are then picked up in other elements across the space such as the radiator, the furniture and the wall colour and enable the scheme to come together harmoniously and give that minimal and contemporary look.
